Fashion Design Show at Edinburgh College of Art
Last week I went to the Fashion Show at Edinburgh College of Art to see one of my first mentees, Ellie Thomson showing her end of degree collection.
Ellie came to work with me in the autumn of 2014 as a pupil studying Advanced Higher Art and Design. She had some great ideas and research starting points of what she’d like to focus on for her exam work – but needed some direction and support with her sketchbooks and idea development.
She stacked up an amazing 5 unconditional offers!
I’ll let her explain more:
Here is her collection, 4 years on – wonderfully created from reused plastics with a nod to the environmental effects of plastic from society on our planet.
I have to say I felt like a proud parent watching the collection whizz by on the catwalk at the National Museum of Scotland venue.
Read more about her influences and ideas here on Artsthread.
The best of the rest I’ve put here below – if you do get a chance to go to any of the ends of year Fashion Shows they are a MUST if you’re considering applying for Fashion Design.
If you are applying for Fashion Design you need to really step up your game – it is VERY competitive, like Ellie’s Dad states. I can help you to get your portfolio on track, manage your UCAS application, and get your digital portfolio nailed to give you the best chance of success.

Degree Shows are also on just now and over the coming weeks. These are essential viewing to enable you to make the right decision about where is best for you to study.
